Tips and tricks for sleeping well at night

For most of us, quarantine is our new routine. The sadness of social isolation, the hours of sleep missed by stress or the too many daily concerns influence our sleep.

Sometimes we have trouble sleeping, then the next day, we spend the day dozing and day by day we come to build a bad routine. Sleeping badly has a big influence on our health. The body reacts to lack of sleep by poor concentration, weight gain, pimples…

What then to do to remedy it?

I’ve had this problem myself for years, I have trouble sleeping at night, I am a very light sleeper and I wake up very often during the night. However, over the years, I have learned a few things that help me sleep better. And sometimes I wake up in the morning having that very relaxing night feeling.

Here are some tips to help you sleep better:

1- Prepare a calm "night routine"

For a good night's sleep, you need a calm and restful environment. For that, a minimum of half an hour before going to bed, turn off your laptops, computers, etc. Wash your clothes, put on a nice big comfortable pajamas, take a bath, drink a cup of verbena, and make yourself comfortable in your bed. You can listen to some quiet music, read a book, or even write. These activities help to relax the mind and are therefore conducive to a good night's sleep.

Don't go to bed too late to get your sleep quota and avoid missing the sandman! When you feel tired, do not fight, go to bed, otherwise, your time will have passed and you will sleep poorly anyway.

What I also like to do before going to bed is to put creams on my face and my hands that smell good. When I move or put my hands next to my face, the smell spreads and it smells the room.

2- Clear your mind

To be able to sleep properly, your brain must be empty. If you start thinking about something or thinking about what to do ... it’s done, there’s no way to sleep. I know because I live it daily. Especially during school time, I tend to list everything I have to do for hours. To clear my head, I then take a notebook or a simple sheet, and using my pen, I write down everything that comes to mind. I try to write as much as possible to clear my head of all the ideas that haunt me. It's really a trick that works!

3 - Relax

No need to look for 10,000 tips on how to sleep well, if you are not relaxed you will not be able to. What I would recommend to you is to do some yoga exercises to relax all your muscles and that everything is conducive to a good night's sleep. Also, do breathing exercises so as not to be stressed and tense.

4 - Listen to your body

The most important thing is to listen to your body. Take tests to find out what is best for you: sleeping completely in the dark even if you are wearing a mask, using earplugs so as not to be disturbed by outside noise, or even changing sides in your bed. These are three things that I do that help me sleep every day.

5 - Make a change

As far as change is concerned, that’s what I said before, think about your whole environment. If you can't sleep because of this mundane, razor-sharp routine because your body is used to it, change it. Change your furniture in your room, get a new skincare routine, and get rid of everything you no longer like. You will see that you will quickly see the difference!
